Confucius Temple

Confucius visited and taught in Nanjing. Today we got to go to the part of Nanjing that is devoted to him, and also to the Confucius Temple. What an experience! We also got to visit a few local stores and see lots of local food.

Everywhere we go, everyone stares at us. In part, it's because of being from the west and the Chinese are curious. But it is also because we have a Chinese child. Abi has noticed that everyone stares at us, and especially her. She said to me today in a very dull voice, "I guess everyone stares at me because I'm so cute." Probably so.

Abi and I talked again today about how our family is changing, and what are her thoughts and feelings are about it? She told me today, "I feel good about it. But now I'm nervous. I'm nervous because I just want baby brother so bad." After talking about all of this for several months, I've realized that the daily common theme has been this for Abi: She is so excited to be a big sister and have a baby brother that she feels butterflies in her tummy about it. :)

Here are the pictures from today! And a few from yesterday too. Tomorrow, there will be pictures of Luke!!!

I remember rocking Abi to sleep three years ago in China. Here we are again, having a snuggle before book reading, praying and bedtime. What a great journey!

First time Abi has taken a picture of us with our nice camera. Pretty good job!
Only in China...A fun little car that you rent to drive for 5-10 minutes. It plays loud crazy music and you zoom around a large mall courtyard. Hilarious and fun!

There are several statues of Chinese men and women in Nanjing, working, dancing or creating art. They are beautiful!

Our little monkey got tired of walking, not to mention the 100 degree heat and 90% humidity!

Entrance to the Confucius Temple

The most beautiful Chinese girl in all of China!

Hot, sweaty and thirsty! Abi told me, "Mom, take me back to the hotel. I'm melting!"
