Meet the Robinson's

On Aug. 11 we had our US Consulate appointment. This was our final step in adopting Luke. On Aug. 3, China said Luke was ours. And on Aug. 11, the USA said Luke was ours! When he steps on US soil on Monday, Aug. 17, he will be an American citizen! In our family, we say Chinese-American because our children's Chinese heritage is sooooooo important to us. We also call Andrew our African-American to honor his South African heritage. Andrew said that this is one thing he loves about becoming an American citizen: America does not ask you to reject your original culture, but they embrace you as an American all the same.

I love my multi-cultural family! Meet the Robinson's!

As you can tell, Luke was super excited to become a Robinson! Hahahaah. I love this picture so much. Our little guy is crying his eyes out, but here we are -- smiling, going to keep cuddling him, we know that everything is going to be OK, we are family!

Here is the series of pictures where we tried to get a smiling Luke. It didn't happen this day, but it didn't happen the next, and is still happening!

We are now in Hong Kong. After waiting in 10 different lines, and after 10.5 hours of traveling, we made it to HK at 2:30 a.m. We slept until around 10, and then spent the day touring Hong Kong. What a cool city! We have dear friends in Walla Walla from both Guangzhou and Hong Kong, and I loved thinking about them as we toured around the cities. If only we could be with you, Binnie and Richard! We get to go to Hong Kong Disneyland tomorrow. It is all for Abi. She has been such a trooper, and because someone generously surprised us with extra money, we thought this was a beautiful way to end our  trip. When we first told Abi, she said, "Are the princesses real? Like, do they talk?" She is used to just playing with her princess dolls. :) And we don't really watch any of the Disney princess movies, so in a lot of ways, she makes up the stories. But she LOVES LOVES LOVES princesses, so our little princess can't even wait to go to Disneyland.

We head to the US of A on Monday, Aug. 17. I can't believe we get to bring this little treasure named Luke home, and start our new life as a family together in the US!

  2. It's been quite the adventure for all of you. What an incredible way to invest your lives in making a difference in just one life. And yet that dream of becoming a family is an investment into the future of so many. Who can tell what Abi and Luke will do in the days ahead which will change the destiny of the lives of those who don't know the love of Jesus. Blessings and love to all of you. May the Lord's favor shine all the way home and beyond.
